The LPGA Comes to Grand Rapids
Whether you’re a golfer, a foodie, a music lover, or a Grand Rapids real
estate agent, some of the biggest news in Grand Rapids this summer has
got to be the arrival of the Meijer LPGA Classic
scheduled for August 4-10. The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf
Association) event will take place at the Blythefield Country Club in
Belmont, an up-and-coming area in northern Kent County.
Whether
you’re a golfer or not, what these events do for a community can be
amazing. A signature event like an LPGA tournament is expected to bring
between $4 and 7 million to the area economy. In addition to some great
golf, the events around the tournament also include a country music
concert and a celebrity chef competition. These related events help with
the mission of the Meijer LPGA Classic, which is to raise funds for
Meijer’s Simply Give project in support of local food pantries. So you
could say it provides people throughout the area an opportunity to rally
together to support their community, the sport, and a local charity at
the same time.
In terms of real estate, an annual LPGA event
certainly raises the profile of the community, both nationally and
internationally, with some nationwide press coverage that focuses on the
area and what the community has to offer. It puts a spotlight on the
northern Kent county area, which is so close to downtown Grand Rapids
yet quiet, with beautiful rolling hills and rivers, and amenities like
parks and golf courses. Blythefield is just one of the attractive golf
courses around Grand Rapids, in an area of beautiful homes.
If you’re
looking for something to do in early August, an LPGA event provides
lots of opportunities to enjoy Michigan’s beautiful outdoors, and the
Meijer LPGA Classic is a wonderful chance to do just that. If you’re
