Perfecting Your Real Estate Swing
In my career as a Grand Rapids real estate agent, I’ve learned that you have to have outside interests. After all, when you’re involved in the Grand Rapids real estate market, it helps to talk to people and learn their thoughts about things happening in the Grand Rapids area that aren’t necessarily making headlines. I make no secret of my passion for golf. In addition to being a great form of outdoor exercise, you always learn something about people and yourself when playing a round.
Gardner Dickinson, one of the founders of the Senior PGA Tour, is credited with this gem: “They say golf is like life, but don’t believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.” If you play golf more than casually, you can probably agree! The pros make it look simple, but an untold amount of mental and physical training goes in to their every round, and there’s a reason the amateur player can’t even hope to compete on that level.
Real estate gets complicated too. I’ve had the opportunity to work with many a Grand Rapids real estate agent, and the best make it look easy. Complications arise with every transaction – from easements, defects discovered during inspections, mortgage delays, and low appraisals, just to name a few things. A great Grand Rapids real estate agent will keep their clients informed at all points, and do the research to protect them and to come up with alternatives.
At The Sprich Group, if I’m doing my job well, it should look easy. I’ve been working for years on perfecting my real estate “swing.” In golf, every round is a chance to practice and tinker with your swing. But in real estate, it’s not a game – each transaction is playing for keeps, and there is nothing more personal than your home.
